Privacy Policy

This policy describes information collected during a visit, the reasons it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. Continued use of Idaho County Criminal History signifies acceptance of these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and returns its response; we do not retain a local log of those search terms.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email may be retained long enough to respond and manage the correspondence. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Loading a page can cause the servers to receive routine technical details about the visit:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files used to understand traffic patterns, such as popular pages and exit points. Analytics providers combine that activity into performance reports. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
  • Sending your search requests to the right partner service
  • Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
  • Tracking down and fixing technical issues
  • Showing ads that may line up with your interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We neither maintain nor sell a database of personal criminal records. Idaho County guidance routes readers to the Sheriff, District Court clerk, Idaho State Police BCI, and Idaho Central Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not compiled into third-party records or consumer reports, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to submitted queries, and those practices are beyond our control. Review the relevant provider policy before searching.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-aid, or third-party services. Once a visitor leaves this domain, the destination's policy governs. Review it before providing personal details.

Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted advertising.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information can be available to:

  • Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
  • Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
  • Ad networks that place ads on our pages
  • Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security measures protect collected data, but no internet-connected service can guarantee complete security or promise that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A verified report of a minor's submitted data will be addressed through deletion.

Your Data Rights

Rights can vary with a visitor's residence and applicable law. In Idaho, consumer-protection claims may be governed by the Idaho Consumer Protection Act, Idaho Code title 48, chapter 6. Public records held by Idaho agencies are separately governed by the Idaho Public Records Act, title 74, chapter 1, while BCI criminal-history dissemination is controlled by Idaho Code § 67-3008. At a minimum, you may:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing

Updates to This Policy

We may change this privacy policy down the road. When we do, the updated version goes up on this page with a new effective date. Check back if you want to keep tabs on how we handle your information.
